The curing process takes longer in conditions where there is low humidity and at low temperatures. The sealing film must not be used as a surface adhesive. The sealant can be painted over with water-based paints. Discolouration may occur with alkyd resin paints. Preliminary tests should therefore be performed. Avoid contact with polyethylene, polypropylene, silicone, butyl rubber, neoprene, EPDM and surfaces containing bitumen and tar. To optimise the adhesion of plaster with the sealant, it is recommended to insert/press on a fibre glass joint cover strip or fibre glass pad onto the sealant while it is still working.
- Coating over joints and leaks
- For sealing connection joints to construction elements
The surface must be free from dust and grease. Measures must also be taken to ensure the surface is dry and capable of bearing load. Loose parts must be removed before the sealant is applied. Preclean the surface with IPA cleaner (art. no. 0893223500). Masonry must be pre-treated with primer for plastic/wood/stone. Apply the sealant to the joints to be sealed and spread using a paint brush. The sealant must be spread at least 10 mm over both sides. The thickness of the coat should be approx. 3 mm. The sealing film should be covered after 3 months at the latest.
Surfaces without a primer: Iron, aluminium, copper, brass, GRP, polycarbonate, spruce, oak
Surfaces with primer for plastic/wood/stone: Hard PVC, ABS; EPS; concrete, brick, PMMA
Surfaces with primer for metal: stainless steel
